Deep Tissue Massage—The Go-To for Muscle Pain

Deep Tissue massage is one of the primary techniques used for severe muscle tension and pain. This deep massage goes beyond the first layer of muscle and addresses the layer beneath.  It also penetrates to the connective tissue and fascia surrounding the muscles breaking up tension and adhesions.

Deep Tissue massage is used when people are having consistent or repetitive pain, for patients who have been injured, and for those that perform repetitive or heavy activity.

The skill of the therapist is very important in their effectiveness in using this technique. It takes training, strength and experience to uncover the offending muscles and apply the correct combination of technique and pressure to bring relief.

Patients respond differently to this massage. Some feel instant relief and sleep well afterwards. Some are sore for a day or so after the massage. It is important to communicate with your therapist during the massage and afterward so your treatment can be best customized to your specific needs.

Most of our massages combine a mixture of massage techniques customized to the particular need of the patient. For example, the Therapist may mix deep tissue massage, myofascia release, trigger point therapy, and more in the same massage.

Please feel free to tell your therapist where you are experiencing pain or discomfort and where you are in need of the greatest relief. This will help her customize your massage for optimal results.
